Cosmogonize

/kɒzˈmɑːɡənaɪz/ verb

Definition

To create, develop, or present a theory about the origin and formation of the universe; to explain or describe the genesis of the cosmos.

Etymology

From cosmogony + -ize (verb-forming suffix). The -ize suffix, often of Greek origin, transforms nouns and adjectives into verbs, as in 'theorize' or 'categorize'.

Kelly Says

When scientists cosmogonize—building elaborate models of planetary formation, star birth, and universal expansion—they're doing something humans have always done. The difference is modern cosmogonizers can test their ideas against observations, not just imagination.
