Definition
A genus of shrubs and small trees commonly known as hawthorns, bearing white or pink flowers and small red or orange fruits.
Etymology
From Greek 'krataigos,' possibly related to 'kratos' (strength), referring to the wood's hardness, or from 'keras' (horn) referring to the thorns. The genus name was Latinized in scientific classification.
Kelly Says
Hawthorns were so important to ancient peoples that the Greeks gave them a strong name, and they've been used in herbal medicine for centuries to support heart health!
