Curate

/ˈkjʊəreɪt/ (verb), /ˈkjʊərət/ (noun, less common) verb

Definition

To curate is to carefully select, organize, and present items or information, usually to tell a story or create a certain experience. It is often used for art exhibits, playlists, or collections.

Etymology

Related to Latin *curare* “to care for,” originally used for church officials (curates) who cared for souls. The modern verb grew from the museum sense of curators caring for collections.

Kelly Says

Any time you build a playlist, choose photos for your profile, or tidy your social media, you’re curating your identity. We’re all accidental curators now, shaping what tiny slice of ourselves the world sees.
