Cyclops

/ˈsaɪklɑːps/ noun

Definition

In Greek mythology, a giant one-eyed monster or creature, or more generally, any creature or person with only one eye.

Etymology

From Greek 'kyklos' (circle) plus 'ops' (eye), literally 'round-eyed.' The famous cyclops from Homer's 'Odyssey' was named Polyphemus, and they were said to be sons of Poseidon.

Kelly Says

The most famous cyclops, Polyphemus, was outwitted by Odysseus with a simple trick—the hero called himself 'Nobody' so when Polyphemus yelled for help saying 'Nobody stabbed me!' no one came to help!
