Definition
A mineral or ore with a cylindrical crystal structure or form, often containing copper and tin compounds.
Etymology
From Greek 'kylindros' (cylinder) + '-ite' (mineral suffix). This mineralogical term emerged in the 19th century when scientists developed systematic names for minerals based on their crystal shapes.
Kelly Says
Cylindrite has a brilliant geometric form—its crystals naturally grow in cylinder shapes, and it's one of the few minerals with such perfect tubular structure!
