Definition
A person or thing that is the center of attention or admiration; something that serves as a guiding star.
Etymology
From Greek 'kynosoura' (dog's tail), the constellation Ursa Minor, which contains Polaris — the North Star that guided ancient sailors. The dog's tail became humanity's compass.
Kelly Says
This word literally means 'DOG'S TAIL' in Greek — because that's what they called the constellation with the North Star! So when someone is a cynosure, they're so magnetic that everyone looks at them like sailors looked at Polaris! âðŸ•
