Definition
In botany, describing a flower that has exactly ten petals.
Etymology
From deca- (ten) + petalous (having petals). This systematic botanical term describes flower structure using Greek numerals combined with petal terminology.
Kelly Says
A flower with ten petals would be called decapetalous—but botanists created an entire naming system where deca-, penta-, hexa- and other prefixes instantly tell you petal counts, turning flower structure into a math problem.
