Definition
Becomes or makes smaller in size, amount, intensity, or degree; reduces or diminishes.
Etymology
From Old French 'decreistre' from Latin 'decrescere', combining 'de-' (down, away) with 'crescere' (to grow). The word literally means to 'grow down' or reverse the process of increase.
Kelly Says
In mathematics, exponential decrease creates fascinating curves where quantities approach zero but never quite reach it - like radioactive decay, where substances have half-lives but theoretically never completely disappear.
