Definition
The Roman numeral X; a crossing or intersection in the form of an X.
Etymology
From Latin decussis, the Roman numeral for ten (X). The word refers both to the numeral itself and to anything arranged in that X-shape.
Kelly Says
The Roman numeral X came from the way Romans counted—they'd mark groups of ten by crossing two lines (V + V), creating a symbol that looks like an X!
