Dequeued

/diːˈkjuːd/ verb

Definition

Removed an item from the front of a queue (a line of items waiting to be processed in order).

Etymology

From 'de-' (to remove) + 'queue' (from French 'queue' meaning tail). Originated in computer science in the 1950s-60s to describe removing items from a data structure that operates on first-in-first-out (FIFO) principles.

Kelly Says

Queues are everywhere in computing—from printing jobs to handling web requests—and dequeue is what actually makes the line move forward. Every time your printer finally prints your document, something was dequeued!
