In crystallography, having two kinds of faces or surfaces; related to a crystal with specific symmetrical properties.
Etymology
From Greek 'diplos' (double) + 'hedron' (face, side of a crystal). Used in mineralogy and crystallography since the 19th century to describe crystal formations.

Crystals are incredibly picky about their geometry—when a crystal has exactly two types of faces arranged symmetrically, scientists had to invent 'diplohedral' just to discuss that specific arrangement.
