Definition
The act of disguising or concealing; a disguise itself; false appearance or deceptive covering.
Etymology
From disguise + -ment (noun suffix). The -ment ending creates a noun for the action or result of disguising, similar to how 'payment' comes from 'pay.'
Kelly Says
In Renaissance courts, 'disguisement' was a formal art—actors and nobles studied elaborate techniques for hiding identity, social role, and emotion, making it both entertainment and survival skill.
