The increased production and discharge of urine from the body, often caused by drinking lots of fluids or certain medical conditions.
Etymology
From Greek 'dia' (through) and 'ouresis' (urination), literally meaning 'passing through urine.' The term was formed in medical contexts during the 17th century to describe the physiological process of excessive urination.
