Etymology
From documentation (document + -ation) plus the suffix -al. A technical term used in academic and professional contexts since the mid-20th century.

Documentational is the kind of word beloved by management consultants and IT professionals who use it to describe 'documentational requirements' when they really just mean 'we need better record-keeping,' but it sounds more official.
