Definition
Capable of being dried; suitable for drying without damage or deterioration.
Etymology
From 'dry' (Old English 'dryge') plus the suffix '-able' (from Latin 'habilis' meaning 'able'). The suffix became productive in Middle English for forming adjectives meaning 'capable of being' the indicated action.
Kelly Says
This word reveals how English speakers habitually create new adjectives: once you understand '-able,' you can theoretically turn almost any verb into an adjective, which is why we can instantly understand 'Google-able' or 'binge-able' even if we've never heard them before.
