Definition
Plural of duologue; conversations or dramatic scenes between exactly two people.
Etymology
From duo- (Latin for 'two') + -logue (from Greek logos meaning 'word' or 'speech'). The form became popular in English theatre in the 17th century to describe intimate two-person scenes.
Kelly Says
Duologues are the opposite of monologues—they're the theatrical sweet spot where two characters can argue, confess, or flirt in real time, which is why many of the most memorable scenes in drama happen between just two people.
