Dyslogistic

/ˌdɪsloʊˈdʒɪstɪk/ adjective

Definition

Expressing disapproval, criticism, or unfavorable remarks about something or someone.

Etymology

From Greek 'dys-' (bad, difficult) + 'logos' (word, reason) + '-istic' (relating to). The opposite of 'eulogistic,' meaning to speak badly of rather than well of.

Kelly Says

Dyslogistic is the formal opposite of eulogistic—while eulogistic means to praise someone at their funeral, dyslogistic would be to criticize them, making it a word rarely used in polite company but beloved by classical writers.
