Encyclopedize

/ˌɛnsaɪkləˈpiːdaɪz/ verb

Definition

To compile, organize, or present information in the manner of an encyclopedia; to make comprehensive reference material (American English spelling).

Etymology

American English variant from encyclopedia + -ize. Both British encyclopaedize and American encyclopedize are functionally identical, differing only in the vowel after initial 'en'.

Kelly Says

Every time you use Wikipedia or organize information in categorical databases, you're effectively 'encyclopedizing'—it's become such a normal practice we forget how revolutionary this organizational system was.
