Definition
The inner or medial branch of a two-branched crustacean limb or appendage.
Etymology
From Greek endo- 'within' + pous 'foot.' This term distinguishes the inner limb branch from the exopod, the outer branch, in crustacean anatomy.
Kelly Says
Crustaceans like shrimp and crabs have a brilliant double-branched leg design—the endopod handles delicate feeding and swimming, while the exopod does the heavy lifting, giving them incredible versatility.
