Definition
A person who gives money or property to create a permanent fund for a cause or institution.
Etymology
From endow + -er (one who does something). This agent noun was created by adding the standard suffix to the verb endow.
Kelly Says
Throughout history, endowers have been like architects of the future—Andrew Carnegie built libraries, Bill Gates funds health initiatives. They're essentially saying 'I want this good thing to exist long after I'm gone.'
