Definition
A complicated and confusing situation involving multiple connected problems; or the act of getting twisted or tangled up together.
Etymology
From 'en-' (cause to be) plus 'tangle' (twist together), possibly from Scandinavian sources. 'Entanglement' as a metaphor for complex relationships developed in the 1600s.
Kelly Says
Quantum entanglement is one of the weirdest things in physics—two particles become mysteriously linked so that measuring one instantly affects the other, even if they're on opposite sides of the universe. Einstein called it 'spooky action at a distance' because it seemed to break physics.
