A book in the New Testament of the Christian Bible, traditionally attributed to the Apostle Paul. It contains teachings about Christian living, the church as the body of Christ, and spiritual warfare.
From Greek 'Ephesios', referring to the inhabitants of Ephesus, an ancient Greek city in what is now Turkey. The letter was addressed to the Christian community in Ephesus, one of the major cities of the Roman Empire.
The ancient city of Ephesus, where this biblical letter was sent, was home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - the Temple of Artemis. Interestingly, some of the earliest manuscripts of Ephesians don't actually mention Ephesus specifically, leading scholars to believe it may have been a circular letter intended for multiple churches in the region.
