Definition
Relating to or characterized by secondary desires and appetites that develop through habit or social influence.
Etymology
From epithyme plus the Greek suffix -ikos (relating to). This adjective form applies the philosophical concept to describe the nature of certain types of wanting behavior.
Kelly Says
When you crave a specific brand of soda even though water would satisfy your thirst, that's epithymetic desire at work—your brain has learned to want something beyond basic necessity!
