Definition
Curved or bent outward in a convex manner; having an outward curve.
Etymology
From excurve (without the -ate suffix) + -ed. This is a simpler adjectival form than excurvated, derived from the base excurve meaning 'to curve out.'
Kelly Says
Seashells are often excurved—their spiral growth pattern curves outward in mathematically predictable ways that follow the Fibonacci sequence, nature's favorite way to pack a growing organism into the smallest possible space.
