Definition
Relating to or involving faculae; characteristic of or produced by the bright regions on the sun's surface.
Etymology
From facula + -ar (adjective suffix). A technical astronomical term created in the 18th century as observations of the sun became more detailed.
Kelly Says
Facular brightening is one way the sun influences Earth's climate—when there are more bright faculae visible, the sun's total output slightly increases, which can affect our weather patterns.
