Falisci

/fəˈlɪskaɪ/ noun

Definition

An ancient Italic people who lived in central Italy, in the region north of Rome, from around the 1st millennium BCE.

Etymology

From Latin Falisci, the name of the people in their own and Latin records. They were neighbors of the Etruscans and Romans, maintaining independence until absorbed by Rome around the 3rd century BCE.

Kelly Says

The Falisci were Rome's next-door neighbors who managed to stay independent longer than anyone expected—but their proximity to Roman power ultimately meant they couldn't escape absorption!
