Definition
A whimsical, capricious, or playful act; a frivolous notion or unexpected quirk of behavior.
Etymology
From an uncertain origin, possibly related to figget (to fidget) or influenced by French ficelle. The word emerged in 17th-18th century English as slang for silly pranks or foolish schemes.
Kelly Says
The word 'figary' nearly vanished from English but survives in Scottish and Northern English dialect—it's the perfect word for those inexplicable pranks people play when they're bored.
