Small decorative statues or models, typically representing people, animals, or mythological beings. These miniature sculptures are often collected or used for display purposes.
Etymology
From French 'figurine', diminutive of 'figure', ultimately from Latin 'figura' (shape, form). The term entered English in the 18th century as decorative arts became more refined and collecting small ornamental objects became fashionable among the wealthy.
