Definition
Producing or yielding fruit; capable of bearing or creating fruit.
Etymology
A compound adjective combining 'fruit' + 'bearing' (present participle of 'bear,' meaning to produce or carry). This descriptive term has been used since at least the 17th century.
Kelly Says
In the Bible and religious texts, 'fruit-bearing' became a metaphor for productivity and spiritual abundance—'by their fruits you shall know them'—which is why the term carries symbolic weight beyond just botany.
