A traditional British dish made from hulled wheat grains boiled with milk or broth, often sweetened and spiced, eaten especially at Christmas.
Etymology
From Old French frumente, derived from Latin frumentum (grain). This word traveled from Latin through Norman French into Middle English and has maintained the same basic meaning for nearly 1000 years.

Frumenty appears in medieval English literature and was served to Henry V's soldiers before battle—it was basically the original energy bar, packed with carbs and milk for nutrition, and it shows how medieval armies understood food logistics better than we often give them credit for.
