Definition
Funding is money provided to support a project, organization, or activity. It can come from governments, companies, charities, or individuals.
Etymology
“Funding” comes from the verb “fund,” which is based on Latin “fundus,” meaning “foundation or base.” It developed to describe the act of supplying the financial base needed for something to happen.
Kelly Says
Many world-changing ideas never leave the notebook stage simply because they lack funding. Following the money in any field—science, art, or politics—often reveals what society actually values, beyond what it says it values.
