Definition
The quality or state of being future; future time, the future in general, or the sum of what is to come.
Etymology
From future + -ity suffix (from Latin -itas); this Old English-influenced term has meant 'the future' since the 14th century.
Kelly Says
In horse racing, a 'futurity' is a race where horses are nominated before they're even born—it's a fascinating use of the word showing how the racing world literally tried to make money from future possibility itself.
