Gaggle

/ˈɡæɡəl/ noun

Definition

A group of geese, or any noisy disorganized group of people.

Etymology

From Middle English 'gagelen,' imitating the honking sound geese make. The word originally described the sound, then the birds making it, then spread to any loud chattering group.

Kelly Says

A gaggle of geese is actually more organized than it sounds—they fly in V-formation where each bird's wingtip helps create lift for the one behind, and they rotate leaders, making their 'noisy chaos' a brilliant survival strategy.
