Definition
The study and appreciation of good food and the art of cooking, eating, and enjoying meals.
Etymology
From Greek gastro- meaning 'stomach' combined with -nomy meaning 'system of laws or rules' (from nomos). Originally French gastronomie emerged in the 18th century as refined eating became an intellectual pursuit.
Kelly Says
The word literally means 'the laws of the stomach'—but it's really about how culture, geography, history, and science all come together on a single plate.
