Definition
In a gluttonous manner; with excessive greed or appetite.
Etymology
From 'gluttonous' plus the adverbial suffix '-ly,' derived from Old English '-lice.' This standard formation converts the adjective into an adverb describing manner.
Kelly Says
The '-ly' adverb marker is so common that we barely notice it—but if you think about it, English automatically turns *any* adjective into an adverb with '-ly,' which is why we can describe almost any action imaginable.
