Definition
A limb or limb-like appendage associated with or adapted for reproductive functions in arthropods and other organisms.
Etymology
From gon- (Greek gonos 'reproduction') + -pod (Greek pous 'foot, appendage'). This zoological term describes specialized legs or appendages modified for breeding purposes.
Kelly Says
Male insects and crustaceans often have specially modified legs called gonapods—sometimes with hooks, brushes, or other wild adaptations they use during mating!
