Definition
Clothed in specific garments; dressed in a particular way or style.
Etymology
From habiliment plus the suffix -ed (adjective-forming suffix indicating 'having' or 'dressed in'). This poetic adjective was used in literature to describe someone's state of dress.
Kelly Says
Shakespeare and his contemporaries loved this word—'richly habilimented' sounds far more elegant than 'well-dressed.' It appears in Renaissance literature to emphasize someone's expensive or unusual clothing, giving their outfit the weight of their entire character.
