Definition
Any of various pigments derived from haem or hemoglobin, particularly important in the coloration of blood and tissues.
Etymology
From Greek 'haima' (blood) + 'chroma' (color). A compound term referring to colored compounds containing or derived from haem.
Kelly Says
Haemachromes are why a bruise changes color—as your body breaks down the old blood, different haemachrome compounds appear, turning purple, then green, then yellow over days!
