Definition
Enlargement or overgrowth of the liver.
Etymology
From Greek 'hepar' (liver) combined with 'auxe' (growth or increase). This medical term describes the opposite condition from atrophy—when the liver becomes abnormally large.
Kelly Says
Hepatauxe can indicate serious conditions like leukemia, cirrhosis, or hepatitis—doctors check for it by feeling under the ribcage, and an enlarged liver is always a warning sign requiring investigation!
