Definition
A condition where tissue or an organ grows in an abnormal location in the body where it doesn't normally belong.
Etymology
From Greek 'hetero-' (different) and 'topos' (place); medical term from the 19th century describing misplaced body tissues.

Pancreatic tissue sometimes grows in the stomach or intestines where it has no business being—and surprisingly, the body often just tolerates it unless it causes inflammation.
