Definition
Followers of Hinduism, one of the world's major religions that originated in India and involves belief in multiple gods, karma, and reincarnation.
Etymology
From Sanskrit 'Sindhu' (the Indus River), which became 'Hindu' in Persian and Arabic. The term was later applied to the river's region, then to the people, then to their religion.
Kelly Says
The religion started without a founder or a single holy text—unlike Christianity or Islam—and developed over thousands of years into a complex system that influenced Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism, making it the world's oldest major religion still widely practiced.
