Intend

/ɪnˈtɛnd/ verb

Definition

To have a plan, purpose, or aim in your mind when you do something.

Etymology

From Latin 'intendere' meaning 'to stretch toward, direct', from 'in-' (toward) + 'tendere' (to stretch). The idea of stretching toward a goal became the mental sense of having a purpose.

Kelly Says

Intention is your mind ‘stretching’ toward a future outcome, long before actions catch up. The gap between what we intend and what we actually do is where a lot of guilt—and growth—lives.
