Interval

/ˈɪn.tə.vəl/ noun

Definition

A period of time between two events; or the distance between two points, notes, or things.

Etymology

From Latin *intervallum* “space between palisades, gap between walls,” from *inter-* “between” and *vallum* “rampart, wall.” It shifted from physical gaps to time gaps in later use.

Kelly Says

An interval is the “empty” space that secretly shapes the whole pattern—between heartbeats, musical notes, or study sessions. Change the interval, and you often change the feeling or outcome completely.
