Kayak

/ˈkaɪæk/ noun, verb

Definition

A kayak is a narrow boat, usually for one or two people, that is moved with a double-bladed paddle. As a verb, to kayak means to travel or move in a kayak.

Etymology

From Inuit (Eskimo–Aleut) languages, such as Greenlandic “qajaq”, meaning a man’s boat used for hunting. The design was created for icy waters and stealthy travel.

Kelly Says

The kayak is a brilliant example of technology shaped by environment: light enough to carry, closed enough to survive freezing seas. Modern sport kayaks still echo those ancient hunting designs. Every stroke you take in one is part of a very long design story.
