Liminal

/ˈlɪmɪnəl/ adjective

Definition

Occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold; relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process.

Etymology

From Latin 'limen' (threshold). Anthropologist Arnold van Gennep used it for ritual states between one identity and another. The doorway itself — not inside, not outside.

Kelly Says

The THRESHOLD! Not here, not there, but IN BETWEEN! Airports, elevators, the moment between sleeping and waking — liminal spaces are where transformation happens. You're neither who you were nor who you'll be! 🚪
