Definition
Magenta is a bright purplish-red color. As an adjective, it describes things that are this vivid, intense shade.
Etymology
Named after the Battle of Magenta, fought in 1859 near the Italian town of Magenta, soon after which a new aniline dye of this color was developed and so named. The place name became the color name.
Kelly Says
Magenta is special in color science: there’s no single wavelength of light that is 'magenta.' Your brain invents it by mixing red and blue signals, showing that some colors exist more in your mind than in the physical spectrum.
