Obstinate

/ˈɑːbstənət/ adjective

Definition

Very unwilling to change your opinion or behavior, even when there are good reasons to do so.

Etymology

From Latin "obstinatus" meaning "resolved, stubborn," from "obstinare" (to be determined). The root combines "ob-" (toward, against) with a sense of standing firm.

Kelly Says

Being obstinate is like being an obstacle to your own change: you "stand against" new ideas. The same stubbornness that makes someone hard to teach can also make them incredibly persistent when they finally choose a path.
