Parvanimity

/ˌpɑːrvəˈnɪmɪti/ noun

Definition

Smallness of mind; pettiness; the opposite of magnanimity.

Etymology

From Latin 'parvus' (small) + 'animus' (mind/spirit). If magnanimity is 'great-souled,' parvanimity is 'small-souled.' The word itself is rarely used but deeply needed.

Kelly Says

The OPPOSITE of magnanimity! If great-souled means generous and noble, small-souled means petty and mean! We have a word for it! Next time someone is needlessly small-minded: 'What parvanimity!' 📏😤
