Prague

/prɑɡ/ noun

Definition

The capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, known for its medieval architecture and cultural heritage.

Etymology

From Czech 'Praha', possibly from 'prah' meaning 'threshold' or 'ford', referring to crossing points on the Vltava River. Another theory connects it to 'pražit' (to burn/clear land).

Kelly Says

Prague is called the 'City of a Hundred Spires' but actually has over 500 spires and towers! It survived both World Wars remarkably intact, making it one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities.
