Definition
A region is a large area of land or part of a country that is different from other areas in its geography, climate, culture, or purpose.
Etymology
From Latin *regio* meaning ‘direction, district, area’, from *regere* (to rule, direct). It originally meant a territory under a particular direction or rule.
Kelly Says
Regions aren’t only about lines on maps—they’re often about shared climate, food, and habits. When someone says ‘in this region we do things differently,’ they’re really pointing to a whole bundle of invisible rules and traditions.
